So djing just seemed to be the next logical step in this musical journey we’ve deemed life. My musical career started probably like most; with a recorder. Remember that fake plastic flute? Thank God that only lasted a year. After that we moved on to real instruments. I started with the trumpet and picked it up very quickly. My second year of music classes we were playing jazz. I was introduced to the fear of performing with my first solo in Watermelon Man. Once I made it through the anxiety of that first time of being out there to either sink or swim, once I sat down and got an appreciative thumbs up from the band director and heard my family and friends cheer, I was hooked. In high school I decided to learn other instruments and was a squad leader my junior and senior year. We competed and performed throughout the south east. In 1993, we were chosen as one of two representatives of North Carolina to march in President Clinton’s inaugural parade. After high school I tried to play in the university band. It wasn’t the same. But a few friends had started djing so I thought I’d try it. Three months later we played out first house party. I decided on NazT N8 as my dj name. But the origin of that is another story for a different day. Since then, I’ve been collecting music and entertaining anyone that will listen. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel around the south east performing for crowds large and small. With more than a decade under my belt and future gigs to play, there’s only one foreseeable end to my musical career. This always has been and always will be life.
