I'm [The Deeper] DoN - an underdog by nature, a lyricist by choice, and a genre-bender by design. Born in Jersey City, NJ and raised between the city streets of Norfolk (VA) and the country rounds of Hopewell (VA), I grew up watching rap cyphers at family gatherings in Norfolk, battling in high school hallways, cafeteria's & courtyards in Hopewell, building my voice bar by bar. What started as me chasing older cousins and uncles in freestyles became me outpacing expectations & creating a lane of my own.
Through groups like Youngin Recordz (later known as SBI), Young World, & Da Mafia, I sharpened my pen & my voice. Eventually, I helped co-found The Deeper LLC, a creative collective of artist, determined to put Virginia on the Map with raw talent, good vibes, and timelessly contagious energy.
With over 350 songs online, multiple underground projects produced, and a hand in videography, ghostwriting, production, and community performances - I'm still hungry. Still evolving.
Influences: Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Kendrick, Kanye, Wu Tang, 50 Cent, Andre 3000, Tupac, Joe Budden, Eminem, & Missy Elliott amongst others.
I make lyrically soulful music that crosses genre's, challenges minds, and hits hearts. Whether you think I'm overrated or wildly underrated, one thing's for sure; I'm consistent, committed, and deeper than most.
