When I practiced a Registered Midwife in Ontario, I would see often super healthy pregnancies... but often, a case of pregnancy complications would come up. Like eclampsia, gestational diabetes, etcetera. Its horrible for those moms when their underlying conditions flare up in pregnancy. 2017-08-17T16:43:14Z Comment by Christine - Funky Farm Yurts 2- There is one complication that can occur in pregnancy that has me baffled and traumatized after being struck with by it severely in my second pregnancy.... HYPEREMESIS GRAVIDARUM (HG). It occurs in less then 0.5-1% of the population. Its onset reveals violent nausea and vomiting... for me, it felt like toxic sludge travelling in my body and rushing through my veins completely debilitating me leaving me helpless and unable to function. I was bedridden for the entire pregnancy fighting to survive. The moment my placenta was born, this horrifying condition of HG went away immediately... but soon after post HG symptoms began to increased. Now, 3 years later, I am struggling with anxiety, depression and PTSD... science has proven that this occurs in 80% of women who have HG. 2017-08-17T16:43:06Z Comment by Christine - Funky Farm Yurts 3- I know there is a reason for all of this... a virus or a toxin perhaps..... I would LOVE answers... MOTHERS would LOVE answers, because I know there are so many mothers worldwide that need this help, and the medical communities need answers on how to help these suffering mothers. I was lucky enough to have access to medical care, even if it was less then optimal because physicians in the medical community do not understand whats happening and dont see how serious this is. MAMY women and babies (fetus) DIE because they have no access to medical care or medication to help with the violent symptoms. Anthony, Spirit, I am calling for help . There are too many HG sufferers, and so many survivors, and too many who dont survive because of this horrific illness. WHAT IS GOIN ON WITH HYPEREMESIS GRAVIDARUM ? Its effects are disastrous and are changing the life course for so many women and their families.
