Periphery - Lune (Matt Lange Remix) by Matt Lange

I’ve been a big fan of Periphery since the inception of the band, and I’ve certainly been influenced by them at times in my own work as well. A few years ago I ended up at a group dinner in Silver Lake with Matt Halpern as he was in town playing drums with Mick Gordon, the composer of the Doom soundtrack (he is also incredible, I might add). Over the course of a couple drinks and some buffalo cauliflower, dinner serendipitously turned into having access to the multitracks of their most recent album, Periphery III, as well as forging some new friendships that I’m very grateful for. Ultimately, they suggested I take on Lune, which was one one of the more overtly melodic tracks of the album, and a little while later this is what came out. Truthfully, it’s one of the best remixes I think I’ve done in a very long and I’m very pleased to be able to share it with you finally. They’re all such incredibly talented musicians that it was very difficult not to be inspired by what they composed, and it’s an honor to have been able to put my stamp on it.
