Michaelis - Special Assistance [MAMA033] by Manjumasi Music published on 2023-04-10T20:45:34Z Release thirty-three has Manjumasi going down under for a showcase of deliciously groovy lo-fi minimal house music from Australian producer Michaelis. Each of the three originals puts forth a heady mix of restrained beats and basslines, complemented by a bevy of subtle sonic details, playful melodic flourishes and washes of ambient texture. The arrangements evolve gradually and intentionally, leaving plenty of time to get absolutely lost in the groove. Two remixes of Special Assistance round out the package. The first comes from label co-founder Mark Slee, whose Rusty Transistor Dub takes the track in a more melody-forward direction with a modulated FM synth lead that meanders its way through the mix. Next up is Kooscha, another Australian master of minimal groove, with a remix that takes the track into a darker, late-night territory with a focus on atmospherics and a bit of extra shuffle in the groove.
