A master of darkly shining brilliance, his work is at once deep and murky, yet textured and detailed. The A-side, Köpp, is an insistent and slowly building journey. Shimmering metallic synth tones float over a staccato bassline that develops powerful energy throughout the track’s crescendo. On the B side are two very complementary selections. Bosse kicks off with a hard-hitting broken-beat groove that is punctuated by potent bass hits. Up top, space is created by a wafting layer of haunting and ethereal atmospherics. Next up is Gubben, with some of the darkest sounds on the EP set amidst an energy that manages to simultaneously feel both sinister and playful. Reversed bass tones and punchy percussion set the mood, making way for the track’s incredible and eerie vocal elements.
