Le Petit (Dozzy & Ghittoni)(MCMLTD01) by Maga Circe Musica

Third release for Maga Circe Musica, introducing a limited series signed by Le Petit, a duo composed of Donato Dozzy and veteran Stefano Ghittoni (The Dining Rooms, Double Beat and countless other projects).

For the first time since the launch of the label, we are presented with a work based on beats and an atmospheric ecosystem that owes much to the cosmic universe of Daniele Baldelli and Marco Dionigi, with that bpm bass pattern of clear electronic origin which characterized Northeast Italy’s entire movement over the 90’s and descended directly from histrionic Baldelli’s work from the late 70’s onwards in the Lazise area.

After a folk-flavoured opening, we are immediately plunged into the undulatory rythm of “Sukia”, a perfect example of cosmic electronics with psychedelic influences. “Languidity” advances at the same pace through a sequence of dub hues imbued with mystery. “Niente” is an Afro pattern that sounds like a jam of Stefan Egger’s and Guem’s traits, where an organic, lively sound follows the opposite, the synthetic sound of “Ferro”; here Africa looks to the future, is stripped down to its bare, dry elements.

The cycle is closed by “Spunto 1”, a sci-fi dream with space age refractions… almost a rarefied, otherworldly jazz, the ideal final thread of a tapestry joining together the unfathomable and the very core of rythm.
