Ukulele MJ

M.J. (Maaike Jager) is a self-taught ukulele player with a classical piano background. Maaike's love for music began at a young age when her parents enrolled her in piano lessons. She quickly excelled in the classical genre and became a skilled pianist.

As she grew older, Maaike's musical tastes evolved, and she began to explore other genres. In June 2018 she discovered the ukulele and fell in love with its unique sound and diversity. She decided to teach herself how to play the ukulele, and through dedication and hard work, she honed her skills and developed her own style.

Maaike's background in classical piano provided her with a solid foundation, which she incorporated into her ukulele playing. Her love for flamenco also influenced her playing style, as she incorporated the rhythmic and percussive elements of flamenco into her (original) ukulele arrangements. The intricate melodies of the East, and the dreamy textures of relaxation, to drift away in, make a captivating instrumental artistry.

Maaike's passion for music showcases the ukulele's versatility in expressing a spectrum of emotions through an intricate blend of cultural inspirations.
