Lisa Logan, Composer Lisa Logan London Lisa Logan, Composer, www.lisalogan.co.uk her first opera A Silver Spoon (the love story of Princess Diana and Dodi) premiered professionally in a full orchestral semi staged performance at the Beaumaris Festival in Wales July 2022. Bronte is her second opera based upon an acclaimed play on the A level drama syllabus by leading female playwright Polly Teale, which was given initial support by Britten Pears Arts at Snape Maltings via it’s composer creative retreat scheme and an Arts Council England DYCP Award. She is currently composing her third opera Touch and a quintet Journey of a War Child for Hackney proms. Ligeti Quartet have also just chosen her piece Hope to record. Her quintet Unrequited Love was recently performed and recorded by the Lontano Ensemble (cond: Odaline de la Martinez.) She also composed a children’s piece The Magical Fish for narrator/orchestra illustrated by Rosie Brooks which premiered as part of the Jubilee celebrations with Docklands Sinfonia funded by ACE. She assisted Michael Csanyi-Wills, composer, on the performance and recording of his Symphony No. 1 with Cardiff University Symphony Orchestra in 2019, cond. Mark Eager. She has recently completed her Masters in Composition at King’s College London 2020-22. Her much valued composition teachers include: Michael Csanyi-Wills, Dominic Sewell (Trinity Laban), Enrica Sciandrone (RCM) and Ed Nesbitt and Silvina Milstein (KCL). She was a choral scholar at Caius College, Cambridge, and was subsequently taught singing by Sally Burgess (mainly operatic repertoire) for many years. Formerly, a theatre and opera director, assisting David McVicar on Sweeney Todd (Opera North), Lynn Binstock on Ariadne auf Naxos (ENO), Julia Hollander on La Boheme (MWO), Artistic Director at the Rosemary Branch Theatre, Islington and assistant director for several years at Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch. She is currently on the Board of Tara Theatre, the Insights Council and an Ambassador at ENO and was a trustee for Unexpected Opera for ten years.
