Kkbng journey #1 by Kukubengu published on 2016-09-07T14:23:20Z Artwork by Etienne Librati (http://etiennelibrati.fr/ - https://www.instagram.com/etiennelibrati/?hl=fr) Vinyl trip through your mind. This musical journey begins with an old and dirty record from Erkin Koray, considered as the greatest hippie of Turkey. His track "Mesafeler", realeased in 1973, is an absolute gem of turkish psychedelic rock. It is followed by strange sci-fi sounds taken from a former BBC Records vinyl, used back in the days for documentaries or radio, when it came to intergalactic messages or space related noises. This is a pretty weird introduction for the 2 beautiful tracks after that one which provide a latin taste to the whole thing. The first one is a remix of Mo 'Horizons' track "A Y N'Ama" by Dj Day. The second one is also a remix, made by the londoners Funky Lowelives for the track "Black Blood" from Bah Samba. Then comes the transition with the House music world. French producer Playin' 4 The City may be discreet, he is an absolute master when it comes to deep house and the track "Backside" proves it. It's not necessary to introduce MCDE and the infamous Raw Cuts series, however Recloose, the artist who realized the remix, deserves all the attention for this wonderful piece of art, with interesting samples like "Situations" from Leroy Hutson. It's followed by the groovy track "Can I Get Some" from The People Movers including the crazy vocals from the american legend Todd Edwards. The beat goes on with "Street Culture" by Rythm & Soul, realeased on Organic Music 3 years ago. Then the rythm goes wild with the 1999 UK Garage track "Know Your Beats" from Disco Dub Disciples, a duo composed of Fitzroy Da Buzzboy and Mike Millrain, a key contributor to the label Nice 'N' Ripe. The break is brought by Utrecht based artist Lorenzo Coe aka Kurizu with this track realeased on Midnight Records, composed of beautiful melodies and pads. The quiet beats go on with "Track 1" from Steaward, better known as Dj Steaw. Currently living from Paris but coming from Rennes, this artist really brought something to french house music. The deepness ends with the heavy bassline of Quell through his track "Hardhead", released on Music Is Love label. Nothing else to say instead of that this is the kind of sound which is perfect to destroy asses on a dancefloor. And in order to keep on destroying asses, what's better than a Slapfunk record? The dutch artist Larry de Kat is a perfect illustration of the raw sound coming from the Utrecht based label with this banger track, "Drunudrumz". After that I merged 2 tracks that I love to bring together: "Cruise Control" from Martin Buttrich (Planet E Records) and "I'm Fine" from Anton Zap (Underground Quality). The first one brings rythm and groove whereas the other one is totaly psychedelic and brings length. I really like to hear the 2 melodies at the same time and I hope you will like it too. This phase is concluded with the mysterious label Le Borgne. The track "Crazy Diamond" is also a good weapon with its breakbeat taste. The mood changes with a techno phase. The introduction begins with a remix of "Trow" from Maan (or Psyk) by techno superstar Marcel Dettmann. The original groovy track released on Non Series takes a dubby aspect. The darkness is brought by "Birth 0.2" from italian producers Conrad Van Orton and MTD. Both aggressive and mental, the track relies on an efficient broken beat. After that, Bristol based artist Kamikaze Space Program shows us what happens when you merge Berlin and Rio beats with the massive "Network Rail". To conclude the mix I used a 1996 (or 1995?) track from La Maison Grande german label. "Disco Stomp" by Electric Fruit Orchestra is a funny old school acid weapon which is a nice example of what the crazy 90’s party vibe may have sounded like.
