We conclude the first season of [episode_1] with an experimental sound piece by Cairo-based producer El Kontessa, accompanied by a text from Shavi Lortso.

The episode is an attempt to illustrate the anxiety, fear and confusion induced by long stays at the Intensive Care Unit, and the long-term psychological effects of immobility, solitude and sedation on patients.

Shavi Lortso is an inactive character fluked into existence through failed attempts at creating a relatable, contemporary superhero. Its limb design was too ambitious and its skin too thin, so immediately upon assembly, it collapsed on itself and turned into black sludge. It serves as a digital ink substitute in some cyber spaces.

El Kontessa is the stage name of Cairo-based producer, DJ and multidisciplinary artist Fajr Soliman. She experiments with Egyptian Pop and Mahraganat music elements. In her production and Dj-set, she deconstructs familiar/nostalgic sounds, adds textures, and blends it with Cairo's soundscapes, giving them fresh and astonishing results akin to a live set.

نختتم الموسم الأول من بودكاست [الحلقة_الأولى] بمقطوعة موسيقية تجريبية من عمل المنتجة المصرية الكونتيسا٬ مرفقة بنصّ من شافي لورتسو.

هذه الحلقة محاولة لترجمة القلق والخوف والارتباك الناجمين عن فترات إقامة طويلة في وحدة العناية المشدّدة٬ والآثار النفسية طويلة المدى الناجمة عن الوحدة والتخدير وعدم الحركة على المرضى.

شافي لورتسو هي شخصية رقمية غير نشطة خُلقت من خلال محاولات فاشلة لإنشاء بطلة خارقة معاصرة. كان تصميم أطرافها طموحًا للغاية وجلدها رقيقًا جدًا، لذلك فور التجميع، انهارت على نفسها وتحولت إلى حمأة سوداء. تُستخدم أحيانًا كبديل للحبر الرقمي في بعض المساحات الإلكترونية.

الكونتيسة هو الاسم الفنّي للمنتجة المقيمة في القاهرة، والدي جاي والفنانة متعددة التخصصات فجر سليمان. تتلاعب فجر بعناصر موسيقى البوب المصري والمهرجانات٬ كما تفكك الأصوات المألوفة والحنينية في إنتاجاتها ووصلات الدي جاي التي تلعبها، خالقة قوامًا جديدة ممزوجة مع البيئة الصوتية في القاهرة.
