Kindred Spirit Elaine Samuels Hounslow The Kindred Spirit Band are renowned for their powerful originals and stunning takes on classic tracks. The band won acclaim from John Lennon’s sister, Julia, when they performed at Liverpool’s Cavern Club in 2006, for a special Linda McCartney Night. Elaine Samuels, the singer / song-writer and band's founder has performed her own songs on television, radio and at Glastonbury and Guildford Folk & Blues Festival (to name a few). Martin Ash plays super, melodic folk and rock violin with the band. He has been classically trained and has played with other folk rock and classical groups. Catherine, who plays flute and saxophone and sings is another highly classically trained lead player with the band, producing skillful and beautiful sounds. Another very special feature of the Kindred Spirit band is the musical interplay between lead instrumentalists Martin and Catherine. Not only do they produce beautiful solos and foot stomping jigs and reels but they are both superb at on the spot improvisations and fly into thrilling musical duels live on stage. The band have been joined recently by legendary drummer, Les Binks, who played with Judas Priest and Roger Glover, to name a few, as well as the excellent Aleem Saleh. They also have the driving and dynamic bass player, Mike Hislop.
