Hugo Cantarra began his electronic music journey in 2006 spinning house & techno for small bars and private parties in his hometown of Antibes, French Riviera.
A self taught drummer, he spent his former years following the music of Pink Floyd, Supertramp and Daft Punk, developing a profound love for music that would ultimately inspire him to pursue a career as a producer.
2016 was a breakthrough year for Hugo.
His debut single Mercury was swiftly snatched up by the prestigious Armada Label, earning 1.5 million streams worldwide and gaining support from industry icons.
In recent years, Hugo has become a staple of the French melodic house scene, signing music to countless record labels; including heavy hitters Sirup, SIZE, Biblotheque and Pacha, receiving regular backing from online curators blanc, Handpicked Music and House Calls.
With back-to back performances at Port-Barcarès’ ElectroBeach Festival, it came as no surprise that Hugo’s expertise behind the console was recognised outside the realms of electronic music, with Dior and Chanel recruiting his services to open stores in Courchevel, Hong Kong, Macao, and Beijing.
Arguably, some of Hugo’s most important projects come from his tireless work in the studio as a remixer, adding his own flavour to the likes of “Red Light Green Light”, "Blinding Lights” and “Look Into My Eyes”; the latter securing a spot in the Beatport melodic house charts at #33 and progressive house #17.
These days, you can find the Frenchman performing alongside the scene’s most influential acts including Fatboy Slim, Roger Sanchez, David Guetta, Meduza and Don Diablo, earning himself a residency at the illustrious PACHA nightclub in Macau.
Hugo is renowned for his charity work, using his platform to give back to the community at every opportunity. His brainchild, KIDS Records Foundation, operates as a not for profit label to aid disadvantaged children around the world, donating all track royalties to UNICEF.
Founded in 2016, the foundation has already secured endorsement from an array of household names including Don Diablo, Tiesto, Nicky Romero and Antoine Clamaran.
“Today I’m proud to present my recording project KIDS Records Foundation.Since my childhood, I have always been very philanthropic and I wanted to link my passion for electronic music with charity. Today it came true.”
Looking forward, Hugo plans to transform the charity into a globally recognised brand, with the intention of organising festivals and other large events in the not so distant future.
With his incredible generosity and substantial contributions to electronic music, Hugo Cantarra has the potential to become one of France’s finest exports!
