Kenny Burgos on Rent Stabilized Housing, Mamdani's Rent Freeze Pledge, & More by Max Politics published on 2025-10-24T14:57:02Z Kenny Burgos, CEO of the New York Apartment Association and former State Assembly member from the Bronx, joined the show to discuss the challenges in rent-stabilized housing, the perspective of landlords and building managers, the prospects of a Mayor Mamdani and the candidate's promise to freeze stabilized rents for four years, and much more about housing policy. (Ep 538) Genre News & Politics Comment by VR NYAA motto: “NYAA seeks to improve the relationship between housing providers and renters; to improve government regulations, operations and agencies that interact with housing providers” is a noble gesture but is not working. I do not recall on the podcast if Mr. Burgos mentioned the landlord/tenant court that it takes 2 ½ years to evict a non-paying tenant or passage of the Good Cause Eviction bill. The passage of the GCE bill is a slap on the face for older buildings and discriminatory. NYAA has been playing around with local/state politicians without any significant results. The rent stabilized market in NYC is crumbling and tenants are forced to live in slums. Why is NYAA not asking Washington for help? We would not get a better opportunity than the present administration and court make up in Washington. Why can’t NYAA send a letter to the president stating all the issues and signed by thousands of owners? President Trump would love a good fight with Mamdani “our next mayor”. 2025-10-27T01:24:46Z
