Good Luck Bear Los Angeles Good Luck Bear is a four-piece rock and roll band from Los Angeles, California. Originally conceived as a solo acoustic project, songwriter Christian M. Velky recorded and released a self-titled EP in 2006. He later expanded to a full band, and in the Spring of 2011, the band released their first full-length album, The Nearest Faraway Place. Starting with sleepy album opener "Down and Blue", with its minimal organ instrumentation and layered vocal harmonies, the album quickly awakens and never lets up for the remainder of the album. Whether it's kiwi-pop inspired numbers ("Interchangeable Girls"), surf-influenced power pop ("So Go"), or mid-90s style indie rock ("Compass"), the album consistently blends reverb, layered vocal harmonies, jangly guitars, and perfect pop hooks. Good Luck Bear includes Christian M. Velky on guitar and lead vocals, Chad Winton on bass, Leonard P. Tucker III on drums, and Daniel Gomez on guitar.
