Gonzalo

Gonzalo is a Progressive and Trance deejay based in Sydney, Australia.

Starting out in 2002 mixing cds on a friend's Denon rackmount deejay gear and then in 2004 mixing vinyl, Gonzalo is able to mix on both formats. He has built a modest record collection of classic trance since that time. In the mid 2000's Gonzalo found himself playing at various gigs in the Newcastle region of NSW, Australia. He has supported the likes of Mark Sherry (UK) and Scot Project (GER). In 2007 he was invited to play at Sublime @ Home nightclub, Sydney for an up and comers side event. He also played at smaller dance events in Wollongong including at UOW between 2010-2012.

Going on a hiatus after 2012 for more than a decade due to other personal commitments, where he sporadically would record some mixes, it was not until he finished his recent tertiary studies in 2023 that he returned to mixing on a more consistent basis, starting out his Excursion series. This has provided Gonzalo with a platform to showcase his talent in playing both vinyl and digital formats, and also mixing different genres, with the main one being classic Trance, followed by Progressive House. He also enjoys mixing classic and Latin House as well as Techno from the 2000's.

In 2026, Gonzalo saw his return to playing gigs after 14 years at both the 9PM and Resonate events co-run with Sydney dj's Stephen Healey and Vads Blackmore.

Gonzalo's main inspiration to mixing comes from Paul Van Dyk. For An Angel was one of the first trance tracks that drew his attention to the genre at the age of 18 when the E-werk club mix was being played at nightclubs in the summer of 1998/99. Later on, listening to iconic compilations such as Magik 6 from Tiesto, GlobalTrancemissions 2 from Ferry Corsten and ASOT 2004 from AVB sealed the motivation and desire to learn to mix. In most recent times he has expanded his desire to experiment and mix Progressive House as he has taken a liking to listening to Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Ezequiel Arias and Kamilo Sanclemente.
