the emptiness makes you wish
for an early exit and
just to throw away a life
the result of a billion cosmic accidents
but what if the only thing
that ever happens to you is this?
if no part is replaceable
which part do you want to miss?

they say it's not about
always walking tall
they say it's about what you do
right after you fall

we keep thinking
somebody out there's got it figured out
we keep finding
they're just grinding on a different shade of doubt

eat the pain
try not to hate
try not to blame
or play a different game

stay sharp stay hungry
keep your head above water
nature gives no quarter
we're not its children, just worm fodder
and how do you decide
who to look up to and who to worship
when the truth is elusive
