Surveillance in Democracies and Dictatorships by Goethe-Institut New York

In a talk on the role of surveillance in democratic and totalitarian systems, Thomas Krüger, president of the German Federal Agency for Civic Education (Bundeszentrale für Politische Bildung/bpb), discusses the recent NSA spy scandal in Germany and the Ministry for State Security of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), commonly known as the Stasi. Krüger will draw on his experiences as a churchman and politician in the GDR.
