Surviving Creative Burnout with Jason Carne and Lenny Terenzi by Go Media published on 2016-10-28T17:19:20Z Today on the Go Media Podcast, we talk to designers Jason Carne and Lenny Terenzi about facing creative burnout. How have they gotten through it? How did they manage to come out on the other side and not only survive, but thrive? Genre Business Comment by Lain Lee Agreed!!! 2016-11-08T22:03:19Z Comment by Lain Lee It definitely hurts you here in Silicon Valley, where most of the job postings are for people who specialize in 1 skill! It's crazy, because when I started back in 2006, people wanted Jacks and Jills of all trades! 2016-11-08T22:00:39Z Comment by Lain Lee Same! Always down to listen if you guys have stuff you need to unload about! 2016-11-08T21:52:58Z Comment by Lain Lee BING-MOTHER-EFFIN'-O!!! It's a lot easier to say that when what you love is paying the bills! 2016-11-08T21:46:47Z Comment by Lain Lee No one has it figured out dude! That's the one thing I've learned! LOL Doesn't stop your own self-doubt, but yeah... 2016-11-08T17:30:41Z Comment by Lain Lee Very true! The really tough part, like Lenny was saying, was figuring out "WHO" you want to be or what you want to be labeled as. It's really hard to do when you still don't have that ONE thing that's working for you and bringing in money, and you have to constantly work around to figure out what will work. It SEEMS that you're able to own what you do more when you have something that works that you can lean on...or not...thoughts? 2016-11-08T17:28:48Z Comment by Lain Lee I think what paralyzes me when looking at my peers is seeing them do stuff for big name brands and such where I KNOW I could be doing that level of work but despite trying, I'm just not getting those gigs. 2016-11-08T17:26:50Z Comment by Lain Lee AMEN Lenny!!! This has been a HORRIBLE creative year for me, not even on a personal level! My client inquiries have been at an all-time LOW, SUPER SLOW jobs, and I also struggle with figuring out with what I want to do! This has been a blessing for me to hear! Currently looking for a full-time, but also allowing myself time to really explore my coaching business. I too just feel overwhelmed and paralyzed by the creative world, like I feel like it's inundated with people trying to sell themselves. So I've decided to step away for a minute and only do design for personal projects. Finding a job is really tough too...just a sucky year... 2016-11-08T17:25:30Z
