During these times of a re-energized Black Lives Matter movement and protests across the country, there has been a big call to support black lives, black people, black businesses, and black art. I wanted to do my part and support black music.

House music has its roots in the black LGBTQ community when it was pioneered back in the 1980s. Since then it has evolved and branched off into what seems like an infinite number of sub genres.

I wanted to create a mix composed of songs from only black producers. Nowadays, house and electronic music is dominated by white producers, so it was a bit of a challenge and a learning experience to actively look for music by only black producers. There is a lot of amazing collaboration between artists of all races and genders, but I wanted to focus on black artists.

We as a society can only grow more prosperous and stronger when we lift each other up.
