It is called "Penny in a Glass Jar", in reference to the glassy synth sounds and the percussion sounds that are similar to the sound made by coins dropped in a jar. The album is called "Candy Store", as it really digs far and wide in the palette of synthesizers and other sound generating instruments. Each track combines a more "traditional" instrument, with many synthesizers. In this case, the melody is played on a clavinet, an electric clavichord, basically. This gives it a guitar like sound, and toward the second half of the track, effects are applied to it in a similar fashion to what has been done with electric guitars. The rest of the arrangement is done using vintage synthesizers, both analog (like the Roland Jupiter-8 / JP-08) and digital (such as the Yamaha SY77 and Korg M1), as hinted by "Interlude 2".
