Hold Me, Lift Me, Drop Me. (disquiet0657) by FatalObelisk published on 2024-08-04T20:56:23Z The instructions this week were, "Record a piece of music that consists of nothing but held tones of varying lengths that start and end suddenly and that overlap as the piece unfolds." Included with the instruction was a photo of a brick wall. This photo got me thinking about the childhood practice of running my finger along the mortar on a brick wall. Occasionally I would drop my finger down to the lower row of bricks or jut up to the next higher. With bricks there was always a certain regularity and symmetry. With a stone wall otoh... or better yet, an angelstone hearth, there was unevenness in length and an amount of unpredictability. I took this childhood memory as inspiration and using a Farfisa Fast 4 organ and a Korg WT-10A created held tones that lift and drop and overlap and harmonize.
