Estherb Mapping China by Esther b published on 2010-12-02T23:04:37Z Following my research on how we experience sound while traveling, I composed a new piece based on my field recordings. The piece is divided into two segments that present Chinese culture from two unique perspectives. The first segment was recorded in a restaurant located in New York City's China Town. This restaurant was chosen because of its unusual soundscape, which was in part a product of the ventilation system. The second segment was composed of sounds from a trip in China in 2006. This audio composition depicts the traditional culture and the effect of globalization on Chinese culture.
