Same Walking Animals-EP by Ernest Stuart published on 2015-01-20T19:41:36Z “British Girl” is named after a wonderful person Stuart met while traveling through Europe. She had a profound effect on his musical tastes by introducing him to new music created by artists that quickly became his favorites. “We Can’t Breathe” pays homage to individuals who (knowingly or unwittingly) symbolize the plight of ANY marginalized groups of people, world-wide. “Reluctant American Mascot” is a tribute in his travels to places where African-Americans aren’t often seen. People have reacted to him in ways that range from anger to curiosity to elation. People have asked to take pictures with him solely due to his ethnicity and nationality. The EP’s title “Same Walking Animals” comes from a term coined by architect Jan Gehl. While discussing the creation of public spaces, Gehl described their usage in towns and cities all over the world, as being “filled with the same walking animals.” Ernest Stuart thought this was an interesting concept as humans (or so called ‘walking animals’) share the same tendencies. We are more alike than we think. “Same Walking Animals” was recorded at Turtle Studios in Philadelphia and features the following musicians: Ernest Stuart (trombone); Lionel Forrester Jr. (drums); Alex Claffy (bass) and Ben Karp (guitar). The cover art for “Same Walking Animals” was shot by Zurich-based photographer, Jack Michele.
