12 Difficult to Say Good-Bye by ellen hoffman music

This is a ballad, for voice and piano. Tina Marzell, is the vocalist, and I'm at the piano. Usually with this kind of material I stay away from effects like alot of obvious reverb. However, in this case, I was hoping to invoke a timeless, ethereal, almost mystical feeling....because of the universal nature of sadness and grief. And so I deliberately added some of that in this song, at the beginning and the end. You'll hear it!
There's another recording of this song, made by my friend Mark Murphy (yes, THAT Mark Murphy!) I had written the song for him upon the death of his life-time partner, Eddie. A few years later he recorded it on a duo-album with Sheila Jordan, on the MUSE label. The album is called One for Junior. It's track #9, part of a 2-song medley. Sheila is singing "Don't Like GoodByes", (written by composer Harold Arlen) and Mark is singing my song.
