Women Of Science And Music 30 Celebrations - Episode 2 An Unwelcome Guest by electric voice theatre

This is Episode 2 of the electric voice theatre podcast series "Women of Science & Music: 30 celebrations" first released on May 30th 2020. It celebrates C17th Natural Philosopher Margaret Cavendish - https://minervascientifica.co.uk/margaret-cavendish/ - who, on this day, May 30th, in 1667, paid an unwelcome and extraordinary visit to London's Royal Society. It was several centuries before any other women were invited to enter their hallowed halls!

The music includes the premiere of Frances M Lynch’s setting of a short text by Margaret Cavendish -“Firmament” for soprano and tenor viol which is played by Annabel Malton, and a piece, not heard for several centuries, by English composer and harpsichordist Elizabeth Turner (c.1700 – 1756), sung by Margaret Cameron and Jenny Miller with the instrumental parts realised at the keyboard by Lynch - “A Man that’s neither High nor Low”.
