David Byrne: award-winning music legend, Talking Heads frontman, serial collaborator and now Meltdown curator has invited Francois & The Atlas Mountains and L’homme Tranquille guest musicians Djiga Boubacar and Sanou Darra to join him and a wealth of artists including Anna Calvi and Matthew Herbert this August at London’s Southbank Centre. Francois & The Atlas Mountains will be performing tracks from African EP L’homme Tranquille on August 25th at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre.

In the summer of 2013, Francois & The Atlas Mountains took a 10 day trip to Africa to tour and meet up with local musicians, with the intention of collaborating. In Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, Francois jammed with Papa Djiga Boubacar (on ngoni), Luc Kyenbreogo (bass ngoni) and Sanou Darra (balaphon) at the French Cultural Center, building on some simple compositions Francois had already prepared that later blossomed into ‘Ayan Filé’.
