Over the past year or two I’ve made a few different bootlegs & unofficial remixes—just for fun, really—which ended up circulating amongst some A-list DJs. They all got a tremendous response, with everyone from Nicole Moudaber to Danny Tenaglia to Green Velvet coming back with support (big 🖤 @concretepromo who serviced it exclusively!) Now, with some time passed & everyone locked at home hunting for new tunes, I wanted to make these available to everyone.⁣

This is the fourth & final one I’m giving out this round and it’s a pretty cheeky club classic. The hook coupled with that classic ringtone set dance floors off when it first came out, and to be perfectly honesty the chunky main riff still sounds just as good today as it did then.

I had actually all but forgotten about this track until a sailing of Groove Cruise a few years back. My girlfriend and I had dressed up in these amazing 80s tracksuit outfits with wigs, and as a prop we also had a giant inflatable 80s-style cell phone. The night led into the morning and we ended up at a crazy afterparty in one of the suites on the very top deck…with the inflatable cell phone in tow. Somehow or another (as these things often go) everyone was playing around with the phone, making jokes, calling 911, and eventually singing the chorus to the old Mario Piu track! Right then I knew I wanted to make an update of the track but never really got around to it.

By this time last year my original tracks were getting pretty good DJ support, and some of the earlier bootlegs had just blown up amongst some pretty high-profile DJs…so once again to bridge a release gap we looked to get another “unofficial remix” out there. Right away I knew I wanted to tackle this song. At first I wanted to only use the sound of an iPhone vibrate, as an update—but it didn’t fully translate so I ended up bringing the original ringtone back in. If you listen closely though, you can still hear the iPhone vibrations throughout!

This one really did well, too, all across the spectrum—Green Velvet, Waze & Odyssey, Kryder, Tuff London and many more all came back with support. Fedde Le Grand dropped it in his Dark Light Sessions show and even Steve Silk Hurley said he loved it. It’s always cool for me when my tracks get played by DJs of a variety of different styles.
