"Les essais c'est tout II" for string quartet, percussion and tape (2016)

Exactly 10 years ago I have composed „...Les essais c’est tout...“ by request of Lugano Percussion Trio, which was performed in Darmstadt New Music Courses in 2006. The composition was inspired by works of Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966) his long, continuing, fragile and often pacing figures. From the piece composed in 2006 I have taken the monotonous thrumming of percussion instruments – resembling the hammer of the sculpture maker. Long and subtle lines of instruments, reduced musical elements and somewhat transparent patterns – all this is an allusion to the works of Giacometti – his weak, vibrant and stretched proportions.
