My wife and I wrote this song on the occasion of her father's passing. Both her father and mine were WW-II veterans who continued to contribute to their community and our nation over the years. They were "the greatest generation" and we owe them everything. The song also salutes all the veterans since then "being all they could be."
On Memorial Day 2012, our county dedicated a flag memorial plaza in a local park to my father-in-law. It was a wonderful gesture and recognition for his strong community support and leadership. They used this song during the ceremony.
