Darwish is one of the leading DJs and artists in the Israeli trance scene — and with a hand in so many cross-genre projects, one of the busiest performers in Israel. Ozora Festival or sharing the stage with acclaimed Israeli singer Marina Maximilian. DJing electronic world music or collaborating with Mosh Ben Ari. Scorching techno dance floors as Deep Dave, or playing high-profile weddings. A set for the 15th Maccabiah opening ceremony — or an underground rave by the Dead Sea. Darwish has done it all. Active since the early '90s, Darwish has been present at every historic crossroads of the trance scene. Producing music, and raising the next generation of DJs — through his events and his production school — he has cleared a wide path for those who follow. That, as much as anything, is what makes him a leading force in trance and beyond. Darwish was born David Abramov in Haifa, a port city in northern Israel. His mother was a pianist who played at a ballet school, and young David would tag along, sitting beside her at the piano as she played. It was love at first sight — with music. In the '90s, Darwish began producing and DJing desert raves with his older brother Itzik. Their parties took off and became legendary in Israel — yet they always kept the feel of a big family gathering, the whole tribe together. To this day, Darwish's production Desert Adventure is considered one of the oldest and finest trance productions in Israel, selling out within minutes. His music draws on tribal rhythms and world music, on the desert's burning sun and the freedom found there. A kaleidoscope of cultures spirals through his tracks, driven by a beat that doesn't let go — an ancient story of a shared inner pulse. His charisma and down-to-earth presence carry crowds in Israel and around the world. Darwish is not only a DJ — he is a tribe leader.
