It’s time to take it back… Take it back and switch it up. This is no easy task. In the words of Big Daddy Kane ‘Aint No Half Steppin’. Fitting as Haynesy takes on the smooth operator’s VOX in this EP. He’s plucked some of the most influential artists of our culture and reworked their vessels to bring a classic sound while maintaining a current vibe. All this is seasoned by the South Coast turntablist DJ Jabbathakut. Layering his signature slices of funk via his Shure carts on this dope EP.

Big Mouth – First Haynesy takes on Whodini. Transforming the track to a tapestry of horns and guitar licks, he breathes fresh air into this classic. Patching it up for 2020 dance floors (Should they ever be occupied) while Jabba’s skills are ever-present gluing this banger together with precise cuts and scratches.

Let The Rhythm Hit ‘Em – If you’re going to remix the R you need to be to have beats. Luckily for Haynsey, he has an abundance and they’re all high grade. Somehow managing to keep that boom bap, while paying homage to the tempo and style you’d expect the G.O.D to rhyme on. Haynsey nails this remix while Jabz keeps his consistency on the cuts. This rework is bonkers!

Root Down – This couldn’t be reworked at a better time. Following the current nostalgia and media hype behind the Beastie Boys story, Haynesy steps in and switches the original with some serious funk for the boys to lay on. Consider a timeless classics pillow fluffed to the max!

Set It Off – An acapella that’s so dope it’s been present in many a scratch and hook over the years. However, you haven’t heard it flipped like this. A neck-snapping bass line is present throughout, complemented by a picked electric guitar while Jabz keeps the tempo by shredding a medley of Kane VOX.

I’ll House You – Never being a fan of this direction for the JB’s I welcomed a remix from someone like Haynesy. Not disappointing he replaces that old school House vibe with the funk he flicks seamlessly from his crates. Keeping the tempo true to the original, it’s replaced with a new take that’s been tried and tested on many a dance floors that will elevate your set to the next level.
