Hawaiki; Six Conceptions (simulation recording using NotePerformer 4 & Musescore sound samples) by Chrisbestmusic published on 2021-05-29T08:12:00Z Hawaiki; Six Conceptions adapts texts from 'Te Ika a Maui, or New Zealand and its Inhabitants' by Reverend Richard Taylor (1805-1873), in particular drawing upon its depictions of Maori creation myths. Scored for large orchestra and chorus in six movements, the work lasts approximately 45 minutes, making it among the longest and most ambitious of my compositions. It currently awaits its first performance. 0:00 The Evolution of Spirit 6:29 The Bringing of Night 13:50 The Dawn of Moon and Sun 25:10 The Formation of Land 32:08 the Coming of Gods 34:24 The Birth of Ancestors The full orchestral score of this work may be downloaded for free from my website: https://chrisbestmusic.com/works/hawaiki-six-conceptions Photo: Jens Johnsson Genre Contemporary Classical
