A composer and sound artist, Christophe Guiraud is dedicated to the realms of contemporary music and sound art. His primary goal is to delve into the crossroads of electronic, generative, and written music. Ars Subtilior and Noise music serve as the dual muses for Christophe Guiraud, akin to two rivers seamlessly woven into a composition of profound strength. The French composer acts as a bridge, connecting the pinnacle of scholarly music with the avant-garde aspects of noise. Born in Toulouse in the mid-seventies, he later establishes himself in Brussels, transforming it into the nexus of his continuous creative journey. Presently, he is actively engaged and has collaborated for several years with a multitude of European ensembles and musicians, including Ensemble 21, Ictus Ensemble, PHØNIX16 collective, Tom Pauwels, Arçon de Nièze, Benjamin Glorieux, Nemø ensemble, among others. His latest compositions delicately blend instrumental timbre and sound hybridization, shrouding this alchemy in a certain secrecy. Here, more than anywhere else, Christophe Guiraud's recent works initiate a dialogue across eras, traversing from the polyphony of Ars Nova to Spectralism, all the while incorporating his noise heritage. Firmly unbound by historical constraints, the concluding pieces presented here unfold in a quivering stasis. The ensemble of these pieces brings coherence across a diverse array of musicians hailing from various places, traditions, and ensembles—everything intricately interwoven towards a particularly striking culmination.
