The current CD includes recordings of “Lord, I have cried (both plain and ornamented versions),” “Glory Now and” (III-IV tones), and stichera from St. George the Hagiorite’s Octoechos.These melodies (III-IV tones) are introduced from XIX-XX century notated manuscripts. The stichera on “Lord, I have cried” are being chanted among the verses of the psalm “Set a guard, O Lord” (Psalms 140, 141, 129, 116). The liturgical rule considers the antiphonal performance (an antiphonal style means a mutually responsive, or call-and-response singing style). The recordings of the chants are performed by the Chanting Choir of Malkhaz Erkvanidze. We suppose that the present audio album will assist chanters in restoring the antiphonal form of chanting.
