My typewriter’s fading
And I got this radio on, out of
Tuned to infrequencies
The static visage of man mirrored in an empty room
Inked in pen

But they snaked the wrapping paper
With reams of afterthoughts
(there was a way to do this before)
Without the brackets, on the inside of three minutes,
like “doot doot doot doo”
doot doot doot doo

Eviscerate and examine, then learn to die
Spent melodies that seldom ring when you whine
"I’ll be here in the morning", is the biggest lie
But still, we close our eyes and
Hope the town’s still there when we rise
On another line

He for whom everything's a way in,
Where heaviest intimidations ring out
With eyes for the king
The for-profit boys take stock in stuttering,
“This is not how it was”

"But he doesn’t need to go yet"
The drafts without him in it
Haunt every word, arched outside
But I know, that you know, that we know that you know
You wrote the book on it (your sentencing)

Eviscerate and examine, then learn to die
With no release in this repeat, you retire the line

Stuck inside, I couldn’t catch my tongue
Teething on every beat of the rung
I’ll be here in the morning
Tuning in to find
If I could only dream what I sleep
When will the alarm ring?
