Its landmass eventually separated to become Australia, Tasmania, New Guinea, and the Aru Islands. Unique among all of the ancient supercontinents, most of the animals that arose there were marsupials including modern-day kangaroos, koalas, Tasmanian devils, wombats, wallabies, and bandicoots.
