Autism Man by Autism Hampshire published on 2025-03-11T11:36:51Z Lyrics by Gary Robertson, music by The NoMen Topplers Records: https://thenomen.org/ Recorded 30th December 2024 AUTISM MAN I am the autism man I am the autism man Well the NTs don't get it But the neuro diverse understand When I walk through town Noise and crowds get me down Can't look you in the eye No matter how hard I try Because I am the autism man Well the NTs don't get it But the neuro diverse understand A shower feels like I'm drowning I speak, people think I'm clowning My routine keeps everything in place Please don't touch me especially my face Because I am the autism man Well the NTs don't get it But the neuro diverse understand 700,000 of us We don't want a fuss Please can you see If you can treat us patiently I am the autism man Well the NTs don't get it But the neuro diverse understand. Ultramantra sleeve notes: Who are The NoMen? A question greater minds than mine have pondered and yet the answer lies as elusive as Bob Linds butterfly of love. Are they aliens using their music to manipulate Earthings as their playthings? Are they clones of an obscure glam rock band from the 70s? Or are they simply a group of friends who get together for the sheer love of making music and the joy of sharing it? And who is the mysterious Svengali like figure Klaus Heinrich? Formed from a love of indie/DIY music, enthralled by Steve Treatment and Swell Maps The NoMen have ploughed a unique furrow through the musical landscapes of the 21st century moving from indie, ambient to dub and electro pop their music knows no boundaries. They don't push the envelope, they threw it away because, well, who needs envelopes anyway let alone boundaries. They are a download band, a CD band, a cassette band and even a Minidisc band. And now they've decided to release an actual vinyl LP, and, although I don't have a record player I'm going to be holding the artefact in my hands and smile because simply: it's The NoMen. So thank you Allan, George, Billy, Phones and all the past and future NoMen for 21 years of a wonderous journey and long may they continue to explore an infinite universe of sound and maybe even play the oft rumoured and elusive (like that pesky butterfly of love) third gig. Always different yet always the same, still the greatest band you've never heard of. Genre Alternative Rock
