Argentina and Australia will renew hostilities when they play in Beijing after their World Cup encounter last December. La Albiceleste defeated Graham Arnold’s men in the knockout rounds after a 2-1 hard-fought battle, which gave Lionel Scaloni’s side a ticket to face the Netherlands in the quarters.
Australia will seek revenge against Argentina for their 2022 World Cup exit as the two nations get set to meet in June.
Argentina beat the Socceroos 2-1 in the Round of 16 thanks to goals scored by Lionel Messi and Man City forward Julian Alvarez. And Argentina went on to lift the trophy, becoming world champions for the third time.
The two will go head-to-head again in an international friendly, which will take place in June 2023 in Beijing, China. It will mark the third match that the Albiceleste have played since lifting the trophy back in December.

Australia vs Argentina head to head record
This matchup will be just the ninth time that Argentina have faced Australia in their footballing history, and the fourth friendly fixture between the two sides.
La Albiceleste have won the last five meetings since a 1993 World Cup playoff, and that includes the game in Qatar in December 2022. Juan Riquelme scored in a 4-2 win over the Socceroos in the 2005 Confederations Cup.
The only time Australia avoided defeat in a competitive match was the first leg of an intercontinental playoff for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. That first leg ended 1-1, but the reverse leg saw Argentina advance with a 1-0 victory on home soil.
