As a white male, the norm (whether or not I internally identify with it) is something that is placed upon me in almost every social setting. It is an undeserved privilege that I must steadfastly seek to be aware of. Being teachable and able to hold space for multiple truths, especially those of which I have no direct experience, is an absolute prerequisite for working in social/racial/environmental/economic justice.
