Alex Monk Alex Monk London Alex Monk is a musician and producer based in London. Monk draws on influences from the 60s and 70s acid folk movement combined with a curiosity to experiment with ambient music, found sound and electronics. His early CDRs were dominated by a largely instrumental and ambient style, but from his highly acclaimed double vinyl "The Safety Machine" (2011) he moved more into a song based and guitar influenced universe where the raw and improvised encounter the dreamy, psychedelic and ghostly which he extended further with 2013's 'Indiscreet Mirror'. His last release, 2015's concept EP 'Fragments of lost rivers' was a collaborative project with the visual artist John Holt. Monk's work has been compared to everything from Brian Eno and John Balance to Robert Wyatt and Islaja. Monk has played many shows in venues and festivals in the UK, and across Europe along with a wide range of artists including Damo Suzuki, Will Carruthers, Laetitia Sadier, Rocket Number nine, Sand Snowman, Mark Beazley (Rothko), Jozef Van Wissem, Dora Bleu, and many others. He is currently working on a new solo record and a collaboration with Gavan Kearney/Sand Snowman.
