Kilbourn Hall, 10.22.19. "The Question of Water" considers the curious nature of the human relationship with water and its strange, integral, and multifaceted role in our lives and bodies. The words “water” and “body” are central to this consideration and are initially presented with strong musical intervallic and harmonic identities. Later on, as definitions and distinctions are questioned, the words’ musical identities are blurred. Throughout this setting, passages of whimsical energy are contrasted with moments of questioning, contemplative space. Water itself is illustrated sonically with various associations such as droplets and waves. Artwork by Irene Putnam. Genre Classical
