GlassAnimals (WIP) by Penelope Bekiari published on 2024-06-02T05:58:35Z The Glass Menagerie reflects Laura's inner world, bright and transparent. Light and glass embody her effort to escape from harsh reality. Each character seeks refuge, but Laura feels more alive within her glass world than outside of it. Her favorite glass unicorn symbolizes uniqueness, fragility, and the silence of her shattered dreams. Despite this, it remains silent, speaking through the language of touch and memory. The glass animals' sounds transform into fragmented pieces, producing noises amplified by imagination. The flowing sonic forms reflect Laura's various mental states, existing between the material world and the conceptual framework of memory. Jim's words flood Laura internally, and in this work, they transform into sonic articulations that converse with the broken pieces of her glass world. The Glass Menagerie is a journey between life and play, admiration and destruction Genre Acousmatic
