Howard Bridges
Hamburg
Born in 1978 in Denver, USA, Howard Booker Bridges was brought up in a particularly "musical" family, but after discovering the power of music at an early age, the urge to share the positive vibes and energy he felt through music became unstoppable. By choosing to study music theory (trombone, choir), theater (production and acting), studio engineering, radio, and film production, Howard made the commitment to gathering the knowledge needed to build a career in the arts.
During his teenage years, with an already growing fascination and passion for music, Howard was mesmerized by reggae artists like Toots and the Maytals and The Abyssinians; from there on, it was simply love. Howard, pushed by sheer passion and love for the music, followed his curiosity for the culture originating from Jamaica by studying the history of Jamaican people. Nowadays, Mighty Howard has dedicated a large portion of his time to studying world culture and building up his cross-genre vinyl collection with many rarities and sounds spanning from ska all the way to modern roots and dub.
After deciding to leave the USA to start his career in Europe, Mighty was soon given the opportunity to perform live at the Knockengorroch Festival in Scotland on the Mungo's HiFi Soundsystem Stage and has since featured in many venues and festivals, working alongside many talented artists in reggae music. In 2009, Mighty Howard performed as the opener for THE WAILERS in Hamburg Fabrik and, in the same year, performed many times on stage with Nina Hagen. In the same year, Howard toured twice with Canadian reggae producer Dubmatix, spending a month performing in France and the second tour traveling all over Europe. Studio collaborations and recordings soon followed with releases from Webcam Hifi, Livity Access, Irie Ites Germany, Ire Hifi, Soulfire Hifi, One Drop Berlin, and the current killer track, LION PAW, produced by Earthikal Towa Sound System and mixed by Vibronics. In 2013, Mighty Howard started a band called THE MOTIVATORS, which celebrated a three-week tour through Poland, performing songs from his debut album, JAH SOLDIER. In 2019 he released, CHANTING THE WORD, an album dedicated to and featured vocals from his daughter Kissa, which was recorded with the SAM RAGGA BAND (Sleng Tang Band), a backing band who’s live stage program brought Mighty in collaborative performances with vocalists like Seanie T from England (Dub Pistols) and Aza Lineage from Jamaica. Also being active as a promoter, he managed to secure space in a number of German venues to run his own dub event under the brand "Solidarity Dub." He has received support from influential music journalists and promoters, and he has hosted a wide number of producers and selectors as guests.
Mighty Howard is an extremely versatile DJ, vocalist, trombonist, percussionist, drummer, guitarist, and melodist who truly loves music and enjoys bringing good vibes to any crowd he performs for. His musical mentors are such well-loved artists as Akae Beka, the Twinkle Brothers, and Burning Spear. Mighty Howard is currently working on building his own studio in which to produce his third album, ROOTS EVOLUTION, as well as the ability to produce his own Riddims and explore the other genres of music that have always interested him. Howard is planning to continue traveling the world, spreading a message of unity and equality through his music and art.
