In computer science a “syntax error” refers to an error in a particular programming language. In techno music Syntax Error refers to pure hard underground real shit fucking music. Having started as techno DJ in the late 90ies, Christian Schachta aka Syntax Error soon found his very special sound favoring deep wobbly bass-lines, harsh snares, FM tones and drones, deep bass drums and tricky percussion. Like a syntax error, he breaks with commonplace regularities and creates a wholly new sound experience that is highly recognized within the techno scene.
Up to 2014, he has produced over 20 different 12” releases on the labels Snork Enterprises, Feinwerk, Relax2000 and UNDERtheGROUND Records. Each of his releases is an authentic, passionate creation of sound always mirroring some experience from his personal life - whether it’s from his adventures as scuba diving tycoon, as sonar operator or as DJ and producer enthusiastically roaming the techno club scene.
“It’s that unique feeling when you enter a dark basement full of fog, heat, sweat and enormously loud techno music!” That’s how the Syntax Error sound feels like. It’s uncompromising, pure, hard underground techno music that is inspired by those nights in dark occupied Eastern Europe houses where the only light comes from a strobe and the sweat is rolling of the shabby walls. Whether he’s playing live or as DJ with real hands on real records only, his sound is bursting and his attitude is unmistakable: It’s all about real techno music, nothing else.
Following this conviction, he successfully found his place within the international techno scene as DJ as well as producer with his label Snork Enterprises. What’s top of the record charts does not matter. Bestsellers are negligible. Snork is freedom of sound, no matter what! It’s not at all about being pretentious or arty for the sake of it. It's about real depth on the dance floor. Snork is a journey with friends such as Cristian Vogel, Phil Kieran, Jens Zimmerman, Daze Maxim, DJ W!ld and other big names from the techno scene having dedicated themselves to an uncompromising, stunning beat and to go even further on a trip to the instantly exceptional, experimental sounds, ranging back to various roots of electronic underground. Whereever it is, it’s deep! Whenever it is, it’s a bash! Whatever it is, it is snorky! So who is the Snork? Syntax Error...
