LISTEN TO THE UPLOAD EPISODE 1 ON SOUNDCLOUD NOW
For Episode 1, we’ve got an eclectic mix of sounds: UK hip-hop, dreamy R&B, dubstep, minimal deep tech, and hyperpop.
First up is London artist and producer Moriah Mensah, who has been using SoundCloud as an audio diary, uploading exclusive demos and building her sound in public. Shortly after our Talent Discovery team spotted her viral track “Hero,” she signed with Black Butter Records. Her new track, “Magazines,” comes from her self-written, self-produced debut mixtape arriving this September.
Then there’s 140 Mafia, the new collective from festival mainstage bass DJ Mary Droppinz, along with UK newcomer Jon Cass and Belgian producer SVDCO. After teasing their three-track collaborative EP exclusively on SoundCloud, they’re turning UK garage, dubstep and festival-sized energy all the way up.
We’re also watching nomi., the North Carolina-born, New York-based artist making dreamy, soulful R&B. She started out as a DJ, released her first EP exclusively on SoundCloud, and has already picked up shoutouts from Tyler, the Creator and SZA.
Elsewhere, South Florida rapper Hurricane Wisdom steps into The Booth for an exclusive performance of the unreleased track “Lately,” while London’s reiko shows her evolution from indie to hyperpop with UKG influences.
You’ll also hear new music from rising minimal deep tech producer Lightleak, British electronic duo Maribou State, and San Diego’s Brunello, whose seven-minute track “The 11th Hour” arrives after a week as a SoundCloud exclusive.
