ADE 2025 Essentials

Every October since 1996, dance music artists, fans and industry figures have descended on the Dutch capital for Amsterdam Dance Event. Over the years, ADE has blossomed from a three-day event for only a few hundred people into a five-day marathon of talks and performances; a conference by day and a party by night. A crucial mainstay of global dance culture, the Event acts as a bellwether for evolving tastes and trends, serving as a platform for key clubs, DJs, producers, labels and industry figures.

In 2025, ADE presents a mammoth run of 1,000 events, with over 3,000 artists performing and speaking across over 200 venues in the city. It’s the highest number of artists that ADE has ever booked — and arguably, the broadest spectrum of sounds are being championed, too. While early iterations of ADE focused more on European artists, today’s line-up is truly global, championing innovative sounds from British dubstep, grime and garage to American electronic dance music, house and techno to South African gqom, amapiano and more.

As ever, house and techno dominate the ADE landscape, with artists like DVS1, Nicole Moudaber and Amelie Lens flying the flag for deep, moody strains. But in recent years, a harder, faster style of techno has dominated — a style infused with trance, psytrance and hard dance — as exemplified by acts like Sara Landry, Indira Paganotto and FJAAK, among others.

Bass music continues to evolve within the UK and Europe, and dubstep gets a ravey makeover with grime and garage elements. DJ/producers like MPH, Interplanetary Criminal, Bakey, Identified Patient and Main Phase are leading the charge. The influence of EDM-adjacent stadium dance music in the 2020s has spread far and wide, as British and European acts like James Hype, KETTAMA, VTSS, Ben Nicky, HAYLA, Miss Monique and more explore bolder sounds designed for maximum, hands-in-the-air impact. Across genres and borders, dance music in 2025 is more diverse and experimental than ever — and it’s on full display at ADE.

Whether you’re heading to Amsterdam to discover what’s hot in dance music right now, or just dreaming of it, dive into this collection of tracks — featuring Oliver Heldens, Vintage Culture, Maceo Plex, Sub Focus and more — and get lost in the grooves.
