SoundCloud’s illuminative House Party series spotlights bustling communities, DJs and artists who represent the platform’s unifying spirit, we're bringing fans and artists together in a real space to experience the power of music and community. On May 10 and 11, SoundCloud House Party joined forces with Soulection, DJs TWO11, Sasha Marie, Joe Kay, Jared Jackson, Sahar Habibi, 1981 Tokyo and Olea, with the consecutive events encapsulating the collective’s 13-year journey as a community-driven, musical force.
Founded in 2011 by Joe Kay alongside Guillame Bonte and Andre Power, Soulection has gone on to evolve into a worldwide movement, known for continuously pushing the boundaries of music, blending genres and creating a space for artists and listeners alike. With an unparalleled SoundCloud presence and now over a decade’s worth of treasured material, Soulection continues to carve out a special place in the platform’s ongoing history. Joe Kay reflected on the deepening of this connection, expressing,
“I’m excited to say that Soulection and SoundCloud are partnering together and building something bigger…from digital to a tangible audience.”
Collaborations with the Brooklyn Mirage and Next Wav Miami have set the tone, and both sold-out Soulection and Friends x SoundCloud House Party events have amplified the union tenfold. During these two electric back-to-back nights, SoundCloud asked fans what Soulection means to them; their responses highlighted the collective’s enormously positive impact on their personal musical journeys over the years.
Extending their Midas touch to Apple Music in 2015 with the Soulection Radio Show, Soulection’s reach expanded further, cementing their global presence with guest interviews and mixes from the likes of Odunsi (The Engine), Children of Zeus, Yukibeb and Juls, alongside live shows recorded from everywhere around the world, including Negril, Jamaica (with Shaka Lion), and most recently, Dubai, UAE. Additionally, some of their most cherished shows have been curated as The People’s Choice editions, where listeners are asked to hand-select the music included in the episode’s official mix.
