Scotch&Fraktal Cologne In the Mid80ies I started listening to and exploring music, first impact made Run DMC´s album "Raising Hell" drawing me into Hip-Hop especially the sound of the NY-Crews like the Native Tongue Posse or Mobb Deep. Tracing back the used sample-material I discovered the rich heritage of Funk, Soul and Jazz. At the same time I listened to a lot of US Hardcore Punkrock like Fugazi, Black Flag or Gorilla Biscuits, fascinated by the power and vehemence transported thru the songs. Sound of choice for shredding the city with my skateboard. Bands like the Bad Brains or Fishbone made me curious for Reggae and Dub. Attending a concert of the Wailers did the rest =) 1994 I moved to Stuttgart where Sven Väth persuaded me of the hypnotic qualities of 4 to the floor during a seemingly never ending set at OZ-Club. This was also the best time for Jungle Partys. The Ragga-MCs of those Sessions and the used Sample material drew my attention to Dancehall and its Riddims. The Dub-Versions of Reggae-Music fascinated me with their experimental Sound, which influenced also other Music-Cultures and brought new Styles into beeing like Tech-Dub (Basic Channel etc.) or lately Dubstep. Since 1997 I live in Cologne and appreciate that all those Scenes and Styles are represented here thru Parties, Dances, Concerts, Session, Jams.
