PLANTA by Renato Rinaldi published on 2019-06-23T10:08:08Z "Planta" is a stereo reduction of a multichannel audio installation made to be listened in complete darkness. Duration 16min The piece is realised exclusively with sounds derived from the various activities and work flows that take place at the Planta quarry in Menarguens, Spain. Most of them were collected during Armin Linke's film shooting, from 2012 to 2014. The composition is based on sounds of the grains. Generally 'grains' are coarse particles such as sand, salt or seeds; food grains, the small, hard, fruits or the crops bearing those seeds. In Planta all the materials, as a result of a process, is in grains: stones, corn, olives, and even gold. The word 'grain' has a plethora of meanings and most of those, in one way or another, to me are connected with the flow of time. This flux of grains through pipes, conduits and conveyor belts Is the beat of Planta blood system. This sound work is one of the sections of the 'PLANTA' installation, presented by Armin Linke, Renato Rinaldi and Giuseppe Ielasi as part of the 14th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice.
